Disc Displacement with Reduction is characterized by a click with jaw movement. This exercise is designed to teach controlled
mouth opening to avoid the click.
Before doing this exercise, make sure you are sitting tall with a nice posture.
Place your index finger on the chin and the other index finger on the side of the jaw to monitor the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
Place the tongue at the roof of the mouth.
Open up your mouth, stopping just short of any “click”.
Then, close your mouth and repeat the process, avoiding any “click” while opening.
Ensure that the index finger is pushing the chin back towards your neck.
