Mindful, movement-based care designed to meet you where you are.
What is Chronic Pain Physiotherapy?
If you are looking for a different approach and a physiotherapist to partner with you on your journey of managing pain and its impacts on your life, you’re in the right place!
Your body and mind are intertwined, connected through the body’s signalling system that is woven throughout your limbs, trunk, spine, and brain. This complex signalling system, designed through evolution to regulate and protect us, has been further shaped by our life experiences. During chronic pain physiotherapy, we always account for, and sometimes directly address, this system.
There are connections between emotions and pain.
Is Chronic Pain Physiotherapy Right For Me?
If you’re unsure whether chronic pain physiotherapy is right for you, we typically consider several factors. Our patients have often been managing pain for months or even years and have seen multiple health professionals without making as much progress towards their goals as they’d like. They have often tried physiotherapy before and are interested in continuing to work with the body, but with a different approach. Sometimes they recognize a connection between their emotions and pain. It’s also possible that pain started with a specific physical injury and it’s possible it did not. If you are still unsure if this is right for you, please feel free to book a complimentary 10-minute Ask A Physio phone call with Rob.
To address your pain symptoms and how they are affecting your life, we’ll take a whole-person mind-body approach.
Pain is complex and different for everyone, and we’ll assess your experience of it, current management strategies, its impact on your life, your goals, and potential treatment pathways. We’ll decide the direction to take together, empowering you to work towards what’s most meaningful in your life.
On this journey, Rob will utilize his knowledge as a chronic pain physiotherapist informed by his mindfulness and meditation experience. His experience in chronic pain physiotherapy includes working at the Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute (TAPMI) at Women’s College Hospital, where he treated patients individually, led exercise programs, taught their flagship Pain U pain education program, and facilitated mindfulness groups. He also has extensive experience with mindfulness and meditation through the Plum Village School, which informs his approach as a healthcare provider.

From film production to physiotherapy, Rob’s journey is anything but ordinary. After managing his own back pain through yoga and physio, he became deeply curious about the mind-body connection. That curiosity led him to earn degrees in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy, with a focus on chronic pain and osteoarthritis.
Rob brings a whole-person approach to care—blending education, manual therapy, neuromuscular exercise, and mindfulness to help you move better and feel more empowered. He’s not just a physiotherapist; he’s also a mindfulness facilitator with over a decade of experience supporting people with chronic illness.
